CSVN – Despite facing many difficulties, with the 95-year tradition of solidarity with rubber workers, CSVN Trade Union has recently organized many activities, becoming a trusted representative organization, protecting the legitimate rights and interests, and taking good care of the lives of workers.
Accordingly, in the past period, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has carried out many activities well. For example, regarding the work of taking care of Tet for workers, it has mobilized 260 million VND to support 11 disadvantaged units in the Central and Northwest regions and bought 300 gifts to organize Tet reunion. The program “Tet reunion, Spring sharing” on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024 has given 344 gifts to 344 workers in difficult circumstances working at industrial service units in Ho Chi Minh City who are unable to return home for Tet (each gift worth 1.3 million VND) with a total amount of 447 million VND; the lucky draw program with a total prize value of over 100 million VND.
In addition, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has proposed to the General Confederation of Labor to allow spending 1 million VND/person from the remaining financial resources to directly visit workers in difficulty at the units. The total amount of support is 2,721 gifts, equivalent to 2.721 billion VND. The units have supported bus fares for 2,412 workers to return home for Tet with a total amount of more than 4 billion VND.
From May to July, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Rubber Trade Union and the VRG Board of Directors jointly organized the launching ceremony of the Workers’ Month, which lasted for 3 months. The program included many activities such as honoring 233 outstanding Vietnamese rubber workers for the 8th time, including a logo and a bonus of 2 million VND/person, with a total reward of 466 million VND; visiting and encouraging 94 workers who had occupational accidents with a disability rate of over 31% over the past years in the whole industry, with a sum of 372 million VND; supporting 29 cases of serious illness with a sum of 290 million VND; many collectives and individuals were commended and rewarded.
The Union coordinated with the Group to organize the Industry-level Sports Festival in 5 regions with 1,819 athletes from 78 units participating. The total prize money was 751.5 million VND for collective and individual awards. This year marks the first time the Group organized the Sports Festival in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The event received many compliments from the leaders of Kampong Thom province. Through this sports activity, Vietnamese and Cambodian workers will become closer and more friendly with each other, strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
In addition, the Union has recently implemented the program “Union Meal”. 43 units under VRG provided meals for 35,556 workers and laborers with a total amount of more than 1.5 billion VND taken from the Union’s financial resources.
A prominent activity of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in recent times is the program “Union Shelter”. Since the beginning of the year, the Union has supported the construction and repair of 87 houses, including 64 new houses and 23 repaired houses with a total amount of 5.17 billion VND. Support for serious illnesses for 41 cases with a total amount of 410 million VND.
The Union also cares for the children of workers through the organization of the “Children’s Summer Camp” program. Specifically, the 25th “Children’s Summer Camp” of the rubber industry for the children of employees working at VRG was organized in 2 areas. The Union also focuses on caring for female workers. Recently, the Union provided consultation on reproductive health and gynecological diseases to 280 female workers who are direct workers of Kon Tum Rubber; organized free medical examinations and medicine for 656 female workers who are direct production workers at Kon Tum, Chumomray, and Sa Thay Rubber with a total amount of 200 million VND.
